If it was your birthday, which would you prefer? A crappy birthday card or a 3inch thick chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing? Jamie opted for the latter for his 29th this year and as he is a joy to bake for I was happy to oblige. It took 2 days in the making and unlike the usual efforts would be unveiled in-front of an expectant audience with singing and cheering and traditional celebratory candles, so the pressure was on. But the cake rose to the challenge and luckily turned out quite a good effort. Happy Birthday Jamie! It'll be a three tier-er for your 30th!

- I'm really not one for all this 'Grandmothers secret recipe' rubbish - if you ask me its just selfish. If you've made a good cake, tell people about it. Share the recipe and spread the love. My Birthday cake...what can I say? Anna spent 2 days making this...what a legend. It tasted lovely and the personalisation was an especially nice touch.

Can mummy have a say....um..Im about to turn 55 and wondered if that was a sortof halfway point...ie. I am planning to live to be 110 so a cake might be a nice way to celebrate? The one here would be fine..or any cake of your choice..Yummmmm!
