The last time I made cupcakes I was knee-high to a grasshopper staring up from my mothers side as she prepared her delicious creations. My mother seemed so tall and magical in her yellow apron, and I think the spell that she weaved in the baking of her cupcakes has meant that cupcakes have always seemed too ethereal a challenge for me to take on. Creating something so perfect in miniature... But then the other day my mother told me she was actually only 5ft 6 and so the spell was broken. Sod it I thought. If a woman of quite average proportions can produce perfection, then at my full 5ft 6 and a half I'll have a darn good shot at it. This is the first attempt and yes your eyes did not deceive you, they are entirely wheat-free. I wouldn't want to exclude the allergics from the cupcake joy or Christina would be most unamused.

Tres Bon or should I say Really Yummy! Love the vanilla cream on top!

I enjoyed this, even though it was wheat free and i'm not a fan of all that hippy stuff.
good flavour, balenced well with the toffee sauce. one downside - a little dry and heavy. but they had been baked ages before i got round to tasting
a strong 7 out of 10 (just don't tell my mum)

I imagined I would never get my tastebuds on one of your legendary cakes, so imagine my surprise when you brought one straight to my desk. This created a splendid cake-consuming atmosphere, and I can only encourage more of this. I went for the banoffee beauty. One of my major concerns with cakes is the ratio of topping to actual cake. This is always my first port of call when judging a cake, whether it's free or not. Your topping passed the test with flying colours. Neither too stingy nor too overwhelming, its consistency ensured I lost none to my lap during consumption. The cake too was lovely. I like wet cakes so I would have made it slightly more moist, but this is personal preference and certainly didn't detract from my experience of your objet d'art. I devoured the cake within 60 seconds. Bravo.
